Hazelton Mountford celebrates Aviva funding for Girlguiding Worcestershire
Ellie Jones from Hazelton Mountford, based in Evesham, has been celebrating a win on behalf of 7th Worcester Guides, part of Girlguiding Worcestershire. Together with her team mates, Ellie and the 7th Worcester Guides have won £2,500 following an announcement yesterday by the Aviva Broker Community Fund.
CAPTION: L-R Ellie Jones, Esther Anstey and Zara Green of the 7th Worcester Guides.
7th Worcester Guides were nominated by Hazelton Mountford, whose HQ is in Worcester city centre, after employee Ellie Jones asked for their support.
The funds awarded to the 7th Worcester Guides from the Aviva Broker Community Fund will be used to provide two camping trips and new equipment for the local Girl Guides. The project competed with broker sponsored community projects from across the UK to receive funding as part of the Aviva Broker Community Fund 2021.
The nationwide initiative, now in its tenth round of awards, called upon brokers to champion a project in their area to be in with a chance of securing funding ranging from £2,500 to £20,000. Brokers across the UK had the chance to win funding for local charities and good causes in their community.
Ellie works in our Evesham Branch, as an Account Handler, and jumped at the opportunity to be part of the Aviva initiative.
Ellie says: “As the unit I’m involved with is based in an under privileged area of Worcester, we’re thrilled to have been selected for a grant that will enable us to give more opportunities and experiences to local girls who don’t have the same privilege as their peers. After the pandemic we have seen a change in the girls and we’re excited to be able to take some time out with them to forget the pressures of being a teenager and to just be themselves. We will be able to give them experiences to last a lifetime, without any financial burden to the parents. We can’t thank Aviva enough for selecting us, it truly will open many doors for us!”
Lee Summers, Branch Director in Evesham, continues: “I’m pleased for Ellie and her incredible unit. The whole Hazelton Mountford team are proud of Ellie and continue to support her in all that she does. Well done!”
If any girls aged 10-14 years old would like to join 7th Worcester Guides, please contact Esther on 07761 564543 or go to join us on the GirlGuiding website. The unit meet Fridays and 7.30pm to 9.15pm at Ronkswood Community Centre.
